So the weekend I get back from Florida I have to go to South Bend and build the new engine for my car since I havent had a car in almost 4 months which is a huge pain in the ass..

So hopefully when I get back from Florida I can get the new engine done in time to drive it Wisconsin! Ill add some more things to my blog here shortly, its going to be under construction so I can fix the ugly background that found its way on there! Talk to you soon!

The Unit

Recently I began watching a show called The Unit. The show is no longer on the air, but I'm hoping it gets picked up again. Over the last 5 days I watched the entire 4th season (which is the last season.) This show is like a drug, its addicting to me, mainly because it hits really close to home. There's to sides to the show, the men in the Unit, and there wives and children whom they constantly leave at home so they can defend their great country. The wives use Military lingo, and have even been trained by their husbands to adapt and over come as if they were soldiers themselves. Sometimes being an Army wife is just as hard, if not harder then being the soldier. On the other hand, speaking for most of the Army men at some point or another we have offered the women we love a way out, and warned them what the life of an Army wife would be like. Soo they pretty much knew what they were getting into. As a soldier if you have a strong support system at home, and a beautiful woman to go home to you can focus on the mission and stay strong for your country... because " a distracted soldier, is a dead soldier."

I love the following quote, everyone should read this at some point in their lives, not only read it but comprehend it.

"It is the soldier, not the reporter, Who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet, Who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, Who salutes the flag, Who serves beneath the flag, And whose coffin is draped by the flag, Who allows the protester to burn the flag." - Father Dennis Edward O'Brian, USMC

Not What I Planned

This wasn't the post I planned on publishing tonight but it will do for now.

I'm sick of of not sleeping, and when I do sleep I'm sick of the "dreams" I have.. I thought they were called dreams for a reason? Aren't dreams supposed to be things that you wish and hope for. Well when I fall asleep, the things I dream about aren't things that I Wish or Hope for. As a matter of fact, the things I dream about are things I wouldn't wish upon anyone.
Most of the time its things that have already happened, and things that I don't want to re-live. So why do I constantly re-live them in my dreams?? In my most peaceful state, why do I think about the things I cannot change? The very same things I think about when I'm awake more then I would like to. I don't want to fall asleep and think anymore. I want to fall asleep and forget the world, forget the past, and forget the things I cannot change. I wish I could have the strength to accept the things I cannot change and maybe in the future change the things I cannot accept..

LIFE

This blog is about life... The good, the bad, the great.. all of it. What fills your life? You decide..that doesnt mean you can control it, but you decide. My life has been filled with all of it. My mother never got to meet my wife, my daughter, see me join the Army, and fight for my country in Iraq. I used to have dreams that I forgot to tell her I had a baby, or got married, or joined the Army.. and I would wake up sweating and remembering... i didn't forget, I cant tell her because its too late for that...she is gone.

Keep the people you love close to you, and never forget to tell them... fuck it if your upset, angry, mad, or have too much pride just tell them how you feel, you never know when its too late. I'm alot like my mother in ALOT of ways. I don't take life for granted, I live life to the fullest, and I try to see the best in everyone, even if they don't deserve it. I only have 1 set of grandparents left and they are on my mothers side, THEY have never met THEIR grand-daughter and if you ask me they don't care.

I started this posting upset, now I cant even remember what it was that I was upset about. The moral of this story is that it's your life and you live with the decisions you make, so make the best of it, never give up, and never let go! Live everyday as if it were your last.

Super Secret Squirrel

Last Night myself and 4 of my classmates decided to go down to the Flight Line Inn Bar, or as I like to call it "The Rape You Inn." It's the place where the Evergreen contractors come after work to eat, drink, and harass the bartender. This place is dimly lit, with old furniture and old TVs, and surrounded by "motel rooms" that the contractors stay in that look like it should have a sign saying Bates Motel. As we walk in all 4 of the people in there turn and stare at us like "we don't like your kind here" (imagine that in a backwoods redneck sort of voice.)
As we sit down and order our beers we find out that we aren't the only ones who know about the "Top Secret Area's" and places we aren't supposed to go, and things we see that we REALLY DON'T SEE... The waitress tells us she has to put a cone on top of her car when she enters the Evergreen Facility so they know its her. One day when she was taking breakfast to the contractors they stopped her at the gate, and told her she couldn't enter the building until the VIP left. This VIP turned out to be the Vice President of the United States. Within minutes he was gone, as he flew away she was then allowed to enter and bring their breakfast. Then someone changes the topic and brings up the fact that there are people parachuting out of planes at ALL hours of the night, with Non Military Parachutes, and Non Military Aircraft... One of the Evergreen contractors says..."that's the CIA", another one says, "yep, and those Delta Force Guys nobody knows about." The bartender says, I asked the Evergreen Security who it was parachuting all the time, and they responded with " what parachutes.. we don't see anything, and neither do you!"

The reason people watch movies like The Bourne Supremacy, and Mission Impossible is because we want to believe that things like this are real, and really happen.... well I'm here to tell you THEY DO....but I never said that!

My Wife has Become my DAD..

Well, where do I begin...

My sweet wife used to "poke fun" at my dad for sporting ARMY gear all the time. Were talking Army sweatshirts, sweatpants, T-Shirts, jackets, etc etc etc.. oh my how the tables have turned. As seen in the Picture Above this Army Sweatshirt that I was issued when I joined the Army in 2003, and wore in Basic Training lord knows how many days in a row has become her absolute FAVORITE bedtime sleep attire.. its almost sad how much she wears this over sized unattractive sweatshirt lol but she loves it so who am I to judge.

I wish the picture I was referencing was her wearing a lacy see thru outfit from Fredrick's of Hollywood, or Victoria's Secret... or even my absolute favorite sleep gear, a tank top and boy shorts.. but NO its my old Army sweatshirt. Even so I love her the same, and maybe in the summer I can talk her out of her sweatshirt and into a tank top and boy shorts! Wish me Luck!!

First Blog For Everyone

This is my first post:

Due to my lovely wife inspiring me, and my love of writing I decided to start my own blog. The Title (Living out of a Bag) is due to the amount of time I spend away from my family, and the amount of traveling I do for work. As I write this, Im sitting in my room in Arizona at WAATS (Western Army Aviation Training Site.) This place is 20 miles from nowhere surrounded by mountains and a Government Contracted Secure Area Company known as Evergreen...

If you decide to follow my blog, you will see pictures from my adventures as well as info about my life as Soldier, my family, and my travels.. Thank You-Mike
